You’re now down by the Athens waterfront. Our next movie is the 2017 Ten: Murder Island, which begins with a teenager jumping off of the building to your left. The school scenes also featured in this opening sequence were shot at Coxsackie-Athens High School, located in the neighboring town of Coxsackie, most famous for its unfortunate name and the Coxsackievirus responsible for hand, foot, and mouth disease.
Much of the movie takes place on an island, and if you look out on the water you can see to the left of the lighthouse a large island in the middle of the river between Athens and Hudson called Middle Ground Flats. It is an uninhabited island with some temporary dwellings for fishing and camping, but doesn’t quite fit the island in the movie. The film was taken at nearby Shakespeare on the Hudson, a lodging and event rental a few miles to the south of the village.
